Array of Crorocile Clutches in a multitude of Colors
Clutch handbags come into their own in the summer, when short sleeves make it easy to tuck a clutch under your arm. Nancy Gonzalez, the Colombia-based designer of a luxury handbag line sold in Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman, carries clutches most of the time. They're versatile, they slide easily from day to evening events, and they usually pack well for summer vacations and weekends. Also, their simple shape makes them classic, seasonless, and less likely to go out of style than other handbags.
Some women find clutches difficult to carry, but the designer likes the way holding a bag under her arm forces her to stand up straight. "They make me feel taller," she says. The designer carries smaller clutches, such as minaudieres, in her hand. When she's at a restaurant, she sets her clutch behind her against the back of the chair or places it in her lap with her napkin on top.
This sumer, Ms. Gonzalez is partial to a few trendy colors, such as turquoise, other blue shades, coral and yellow. These colors can add pops of color to beige, khaki, white or other outfits in neutral tones, she says.
